Natasha McGourt
I have extensive lived experience as a private tenant in Scotland. Until Jan 2024, I had spent around four and a half years representing tenants in Edinburgh and gained an SQA type 3 development award in Housing Law Advice, Advocacy and Representation.
I have also worked for a housing association, letting agencies and have managed properties via Local Authorities’ Private Sector Leasing (PSL) schemes throughout East Lothian, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders.
Most recently, I was selected to sit on the tenants’ panel and worked on suggestions and amendments to the recently passed Housing (Scotland) bill with SPICe (Scottish Parliament Information Centre) and Local Government Housing and Planning Committee. I continue to enjoy the freedom to be able to advocate, liaise with the media and raise awareness on how the PRS can become fairer and work for both parties – landlords as well as tenants.
